I was 18 and working as a receptionist in The Moncreiffe Arms Hotel in Bridge of Earn The hotel had some renovation work carried out and Alan was one of three carpet fitters. The week after the job was finished I got a phone call at work - it was Alan, he called to ask me out on our first date. Our first date was in December 1980, two weeks later we decided to get engaged. We kept the 'official' engagement for my 19th birthday, which was Valentine's Day 1981. We married in Perth Registry Office on the 19th of September 1981, it was a beautiful, bright sunny day.
